Roles and characteristics of Science Teachers at the Yemeni Secondary Schools in Sana'a from the Viewpoint of Students

Abstract
The study aimed at identifying the roles and characteristics of science teachers at the secondary schools in Sana’a from the students' viewpoint. To achieve this objective, a descriptive method was adopted. The study population consists of (209) students who graduated from secondary schools in Sana'a. Total of (21) students were purposely selected for an interview. The results revealed that there are a number of important roles adopted by some science teachers including social roles, professional roles, and technological roles based on the theoretical background of the study. The results also revealed a number of positive characteristics from the students’ viewpoints that they love to find in their teachers such as morality, good command of the subject matter and their teaching methods. In addition, there were some unfavorable characteristics that science teachers should avoid from the students’ viewpoint.
