The learning and Thinking Styles among Students with Learning Difficulties in Math and its relationship to the achievement, Gender and Attitudes towards Mathematics in Saudi Arabia

 

Abstract

               This study aimed at investigating The learning and Thinking Styles among the First Intermediate Stage Students Who have Learning Difficulties in Math and relationship to the achievement, Gender and Attitudes towards Mathematics, The study sample consisted of (100) second male and female graders who suffer from some difficulties in learning Mathematics. The study used Qulub and McCarthy's styles Learning (2005), diagnostic measurement in learning Mathematics( Alzayatt 2008),  thinking strategies measurement, and the measurement of the attitudes toward Mathematics prepared by the researcher. Arithmetic means, standard deviations, correlation coefficients, multiple regression and factor analysis exploratory analysis of variance multiplayer  are extracted.

the results showed a correlation between learning styles and some ways of thinking, and differentiation of learning methods for ways of thinking, and it can predict the ways of thinking (conservative; procedure; Executive) to the achievement. Accordingly, the learning style of male students is the method adaptive and inclusive, and for female students is a technique convergent and divergent. Further, there is  a difference in all ways of thinking for the benefit of and the presence of female students and a difference  in all methods of learning and thinking for the benefit of male students with trends toward higher mathematics.
