Mental Ability Test Vs Traditional Measures for Medical college Admission at Aden University

الملخص
Abstract
The purpose of the present paper is to compare General Aptitude Test resultswith the current admission predictors results at the School of Medicine andHealth Sciences at the University of Aden.
Instruments used were
1. General Aptitude Test.
2. Current Admission Test and.
3. High School Grade.
Validity and reliability were checked for aptitude and current admission tests.
Equivalent group design was used for the study. The sample was 60 male andfemale students randomly selected.
The results indicate that
1. More students were admitted according to classical admission measure
compared to aptitude tests and classical admission measure.
2. There are significant differences in University GPA between types of admission predictors.
3. There is significant correlation between classical admission measure andUniversity GPA but with small effect size.
4. There is significant relationship between aptitude tests + current admission
measure and University GPA but with high effect size.
5. Aptitude test + current admission measure are more predictive of UniversityGPA followed by current admission measure.
Recommendations were put forth for future use.
