Developing thinking skills opens doors for the learner to make them capable of understanding the curriculum as well as evaluating it. In addition, it makes it easier for the learner to choose whatever way is suitable for the teacher to present his/ her ideas to the student.
In fact, curriculum analytical skills are considered multiple common skills the teacher needs in the process of planning for lessons and implementing them; which leads to the must of putting an emphasis and training teachers such skills, since the latter was not enough emphasis whilst training teachers for community colleges. What happens is that those skills are not being taken seriously during the process of planning for lessons/ teaching. That led to the weakness by the community college teacher in planning for lessons and implementing them – since teachers (especially Arabic language teachers) have already weaknesses in their teaching performances. Many studies (domestically, and internationally) are out there proving such a thing in this major. There is no doubt that this weakness is due to many reasons. One of which is the already existent teaching ability with its both sides ( the planning for lessons and implementing them) which calls for putting more emphasis on such skills.
In order for an Arabic language teacher to learn those skills, he or she has to be taught analytical skills first. Teaching such skills needs them to be specified beforehand. Deciding on which those skills has to be possessed by a teacher is considered upon the fact that curriculum focuses on analyzing the context and criticizing it in this level that is the level of mind and soul growth.
Therefore, this study has specialized in deciding which analytical skills in the curriculum are critical for high school Arabic language teachers, then deciding how important those skills are from a professional angle.
The solution to this study was decided by answering two questions:
1) What are the analytical skills in the curriculum that an Arabic teacher has to possess in high school level teaching?
2) How important are those skills in high school level teaching?
To answer those two questions, the study has depended on sorting skills that included a total amount of 87 skills, those skills are shown to a number of specialists to reassure their credentials and accuracy, and deciding how significant each one of them was for Arabic language teachers. That strengthened the skills list and concluded it to the total amount of 69 skills, distributed over three major areas:
- Necessary skills for analyzing the curriculum content – 46 skills.
- Special skills for analyzing the context in literature – 13 skills.
- The necessary skills for implementing the curriculum analysis – 10 skills.
Those three major areas were reorganized due to their importance. The study has come to the conclusion that:
1- Presenting a special conclusion that specifies in analyzing the curriculum content for student learners in all major areas in faculty of education in Yemeni universities so that student learners have a sufficient practice in order to be good at it, according to their specialties.
2- building and sustaining a program for training analytical skills and implementing the, on learners according to their qualifications.
3- Building a measurement for student learner’s levels in faculties of education over curriculum analytical skills to acknowledge the level that they’re able to practice suck skills while teaching.
4- Developing Arabic Academic program in faculties of education and focusing on better linguistic skills and maintaining grammatical rules, because the capabilities of such Arabic skills are critical to implementing curriculum analytical skills.
Putting an emphasis on the technical aspect while studying the Arabic literature in faculties of education as long as putting focus on practicing criticizing literature through implementing them on linguistic skills affirmed to them (the student learners) to continue practicing those analytical skills according to criticizing literature standards once they alter to the field.Downloads
