الملخص

This study aimed to investigate the emotional equilibrium of Dhamar General Hospital Board staff and to explore the significance differences in the emotional symmetry of these staff according to the following variables: gender: (males – females), position: (physicians  – technicians – administrators) age: (less than 30  years – 30 -39 years – 40 and more)

The sample of the study consisted of (400) staff, both males and females in the Dhamar General Hospital Board who were distributed according to the research variables.

The tool for data gathering was the scale of emotional equilibrium which was developed by the Saudi researcher Abdulmasaudi who used it in Iraq during 2002. The two researchers of this study have adapted the scale to match the environment and the sample in the Yemeni society.

Statistical methods used by the researchers of this study were as follows:

  1. Frequencies and percentages to identify the percentages of the emotional equilibrium or equilibrium.
  2. Averages and standard deviations to explore the average scores of individuals in terms of the emotional equilibrium and the extent of deviation of these scores for SMA as well as the characteristics of the sample.
  3. T.Test of a single sample in order to investigate the level of the emotional equilibrium.
  4. T.Test of two independent samples to sort out the discriminatory forces to the items of the emotional equilibrium scale through the two extremist groups.
  5. Two-way analysis of variance to explore the differences in the level of emotional equilibrium depending to the variables of gender, age, and job.
  6. Pearson correlation coefficient to identify the reliability of the correlation between the item and the total score as well as the stability by using a re-test.

Findings of the Study:

  1. The staff of Dhamar General Hospital Board have an average level of emotional equilibrium in general.
  2. There is a lack of significant differences in the level of emotional equilibrium among the staff of Dhamar General Hospital Board according to the variables of gender, age, job, and interaction among all the variables.

Recommendations and Proposals:

In light of the findings, the two researchers have come up with a set of recommendations and proposals which are, but not limited to, as follows:

First: Recommendations:

  1. Benefit from the emotional equilibrium scale that has been adapted in this study and apply it on many samples in the Yemeni society.
  2. Prepare well-trained staff through organizing and conducting conferences, seminars, workshops and training courses that will furnish them with good psychological information and knowledge and provide them with the necessary training that help them understand thoroughly the behavior of patients and their problems and needs.
  3. There is a need an effective role of the various mass media, print, audio and visual to intensify the programs that contribute to the dissemination of mental culture, and tackle the topic of emotional equilibrium and its importance to the hospital staff.

Second: Proposals:

  1. Conduct research studies on the emotional equilibrium of the staff in the other Yemeni hospitals.
  2. Conduct research studies on the emotional equilibrium of the groups and other samples such as the members of the armed forces and the faculty members and etc.
  3. Build a guiding and therapeutic programs designed to help staff increase their emotional equilibrium.
