Abstract

This study analyzes literature on family upbringing methods for gifted students, focusing on their relationship with talent. The researcher reviewed 17 studies published between 2012 and 2020, adopting a descriptive approach. The findings indicate that the independence method is positively related to talent but has a lesser impact on academic achievement. Acceptance and democratic methods also show a positive correlation with talent. Conversely, bullying has a negative association with talent and is the least practiced among parents of gifted students. The effectiveness of the overprotective approach varies, with inconsistent views on its impact on talent, while the parental rejection style is most apparent to students and significantly predicts academic adjustment, though its relationship with quality of life remains unclear. The study provides a theoretical framework for the family upbringing of gifted children and offers practical guidance for parents on adopting positive methods that are essential to their development. The researcher suggests that educational and media institutions enhance their roles by informing families about nurturing methods that support talent, advocating for the appointment of specialists in schools, providing psychological counseling, and encouraging more educational research on less-studied approaches like independence, rejection, and overprotection
