Abstract
The study aims to identify the use of Emoji’s in communication through social media, the motives for their employment as an alternative to verbal and non -verbal communication, and the effects that it can occur on the Arabic language. The study relied on the survey approach and the questionnaire, which was distributed on a sample of students in College of Social and Humanities at Oum El -Bouaghi University.
The study concluded that students employ Emoji’s through chat applications permanently, in order to express their feelings, and help them in rapid interaction with the recipient and shortening effort and time, and students believe that the use of these symbols may negatively affect the Arabic language in terms of linguistic communication skills, language structure And its functions.
