Abstract

The present study aims at Developing a metacognitive skills for a sample of students in the first-grade secondary school through training them on the training program which the researcher prepared specifically for the study, As well as Seeking to detect the effect of this proposed program on the problem solving behavior of the study sample. Therefore the problem of study Determined by the main following question:

What is the effect of the proposed training program for developing metacognitive skills in a cooperative context in Problem solving behavior for a sample of students in the first-grade secondary school?

The most important results of the study include:

There are significant differences between the students’ mean scores in both pre and posttests of problem solving behavior test  at the 0.01 level; in favor of the post test, with high effect size.

There are qualitative differences in metacognitive skills used in every problem of the problem solving behavior test& and in the general and physical problems.

There are statistically significant qualitative differences between (students who score high marks and students who score low marks on problem solving behavior test) in metacognitive skills that they used in solving the problems of the

test.
