Developing the skills of creative problem solving for science teachers and its effect on the achievement of their students

Abstract:
The study aimed at investigating the efficacy of a program of developing the skills of creative problem solving for a sample of science teachers of preparatory stage. The program focused on developing the knowledge of the teachers of the components and stages of creative problem solving and their attitudes towards it in Egypt. The sample of the study was 96 science teachers who were trained on the skills of creative problem solving, and 100 female and male of their students. The researchers used three tools to collect data which are: creative Problem Solving Scale, Stages and Components of Creative Problem Solving Scale, Attitudes towards Creative Problem Solving Scale, and Creative Thinking Problem Solving Scale.
The study reveals a statistically significant difference at α 0.01 in the mean scores of the experiment group in the posttest compared to their mean scores in the pretest in all dimensions of the scale and the total score in favor of the posttest. There is also a statistically significant difference at α 0.01 in the mean score of the experiment group in the post test compared to the pretest with regard to their knowledge of the stages and components of creative problem solving in favor of the posttest. Finally, there is a statistically significant difference at α 0.01 in the mean scores of the teachers in the pre and posttests with regard to attitudes towards creative problem solving in favor of the posttest.
