Abstract
Abstract
the aim of the study was to identify the effect of enrichment activities in developing creative thinking in 10th grade female students. The participants of the study were 120 10th grade female students from a number of schools in the city of Sana'a, republic of Yemen. Students were divided into two groups, 60 were assigned to the control group and the other 60 for the experiment group. The study adopted the quasi-experimental approach with a pre-and post-design. To test the hypotheses of the study, a number of enrichment activities were developed to enhance creative thinking skills, more specifically; fluency, flexibility, and authenticity. Torrance Test of creative thinking (Figural TTCT) was used before and after the experiment. Data were analyzed using means, standard deviations, T-test, and Analysis of Multiple Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA). Results reveal:
- a statistically significant difference in the mean scores of the students of the control and experiment group in the post-test in all the skills (fluency, flexibility, and originality) and the total score of the TTCT test in favor of the experiment group;
- no statistically significant difference in the mean scores of the students of the experiment group in the pre- and posttests on the TTCT for underachievers in the skills of creative thinking except originality and the total score of the TTCT.
- a statistically significant difference in the mean scores of the students of the control and experiment group in the pre- and posttests on the TTCT for average achievers in the skills of creative thinking (fluency, flexibility, and originality) in addition to the total score in favor of the posttest.
- a statistically significant difference in the mean scores of the students of the experiment group in the pre- and posttests at the level of achievement (high – average- low) in favor of the posttest in the skill of originality.
