The degree to which Arabic language teachers are able to use methods for developing listening comprehension skills among basic stage students in Ma’an Governorate

Abstract
The study aimed to assess the proficiency of Arabic language teachers in employing strategies to enhance listening comprehension skills among elementary school students in Ma'an Governorate. The researcher adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, and the study sample consisted of 234 Arabic language teachers for elementary school in Ma'an. To achieve the study objectives, the researcher developed a questionnaire as a research tool, comprising 36 items distributed across four dimensions. The study found that the proficiency of Arabic language teachers in employing strategies to enhance listening comprehension skills among elementary school students in Ma'an Governorate was high, with an average of 3.797. The highest percentage of teacher practices was related to appreciative listening strategies, while the lowest percentage was associated with critical listening strategies. Based on these results, the study recommended the organization of sessions for exchanging experiences among Arabic language teachers to share successful ideas and practices in developing critical listening skills.
