Abstract

Digital competencies are considered fundamental requirements for keeping pace with educational developments in the modern era, serving as a cornerstone for graduating a generation capable of navigating the variables of the technology age. These competencies enhance the educational process, making it more effective. The study aimed to examine the extent of the availability of these competencies among physical education teachers in light of contemporary challenges, from their own perspective. A descriptive-analytical approach was adopted, and a questionnaire was developed to collect data from a sample of 200 teachers.

The results indicated that physical education teachers are aware of the challenges posed by technology and social changes affecting their educational practices. There is an urgent need to develop and enhance digital competencies among physical education teachers to enable them to interact with technological transformations and improve the quality of education. The study recommended organizing specialized training courses aimed at enhancing the understanding and utilization of digital technologies among physical education teachers. Additionally, it proposed the development of innovative curricula focusing on enhancing digital competencies and integrating technology into the field of physical education. Finally, providing technical and technological support for teachers to help them overcome technical and practical challenges was emphasized.
