Abstract
This study examines the financing situation at the University of Science and Technology — Aden and evaluates the effectiveness of income-diversification policies for achieving financial sustainability amid the economic and social challenges facing private higher education in Yemen. The research uses a descriptive-analytical approach, applying a SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and to analyze revenue-diversification aspects. Findings show the university depends heavily on tuition fees as its primary revenue source, making it vulnerable to economic shocks and declining student enrollment. The absence of a clear income-diversification policy and weak administrative coordination are significant obstacles to financial stability. Conversely, the university’s strong academic reputation, qualified teaching staff, and adequate infrastructure are important strengths. Opportunities include developing new e-learning programs, expanding community partnerships, and broadening research and training services. The study concludes with a proposed development matrix aimed at diversifying funding by improving management of existing resources, encouraging investment in educational and research programs, and strengthening financial transparency. It recommends adopting a strategic plan for sustainable financing that emphasizes efficiency, quality, and optimal use of resources to ensure the university’s continued educational and developmental role in a challenging and unstable environment.
