Abstract

Research topic: (The eloquence of silence in the Holy Quran according to the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim via Al-Shatibiyyah, a rhetorical semantic study).  The research aims to reveal the rhetorical secrets of silence in the Holy Quran according to the narration of Hafs from Asim, and what silence includes in terms of aesthetic values. The research was based on the descriptive analytical approach that stands before this phenomenon to show its value and rhetorical contents. The research was divided into two sections, through which the definition of silence, rupture and stopping, a glimpse of the Quranic readings and the definition of the narration of Hafs from Asim, then the research entered into explaining the eloquence of silence in the Holy Quran, through the four places of silence in the Holy Quran in which Hafs was silent. The research concluded with results, the most important of which were: silence in the Holy Quran has rhetorical connotations that clarify the meaning to the listener and the reader alike, and alert him to the importance of what follows the matter that we were silent about, and we do not find that in connection or stopping, and that the places where Hafs was silent are four agreed upon places, and they are places related to important matters for the Muslim in his faith, morals and dealings. The researcher recommended expanding the circle of interest in the eloquence of silence in the Quran among the rest of the readers.
