The role of applying the principles of governance in civil society organizations and their relationship with sustainable development in Yemen

Abstract
The study aimed to know the relationship between the application of governance principles in civil society organizations and the achievement of sustainable development. The study community consisted of (121) organizations in the capital city of Sana 'a . To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive analytical approach was used, and a questionnaire was prepared as a main tool for data collection. The study reached several results, the most important of which is that these organizations play an important role in providing humanitarian services to citizens in the stage of current conflict. and there are challenges it faces, most notably, the high security risks, the low of financial, and human resources of these organizations, which led to the reduction of its role. There is a weak of internal governance, especially the principles of transparency, accountability, and participation. There is a positive relationship between applying governance and increasing its contributions to achieving sustainable development. The study recommended that these organizations should implement governance by improving internal systems and spreading the culture of governance, to increase their capabilities to contribute to achieving sustainable development. The Yemeni government should strengthen the capacities of these organizations as partners in providing services and projects to achieving sustainable development.
