Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the attitudes of the deans and directors of administrative departments and units towards applying principles of total quality in Jordanian universities through the four fields of quality: requirements of quality in education, following up and developing teaching and learning processes, developing human resources , making decisions and community service. It also aimed to find out if their responses would differ based on demographic variables. The sample of the study was composed of 160 who were given a questionnaire that was developed to collect data. The researcher used descriptive and analytical approaches to answer the questions of the study. Major findings reveal that the respondents have positive attitudes towards applying the principles of total quality management in Jordanian universities. They also reveal that the fields of total quality that are applied the most in Jordanian universities are in the following order: requirements of quality in education, then following up and developing teaching and learning processes, followed by developing human resources, and finally, making decisions and community service. Results show no major differences in the responses of the sample that can be attributed to demographic variables.
