Abstract

The current study targeted prepare suggested enhancement program based on the habits of mind for developing the creative abilities of the preparatory year students at the University of Tabuk. To achieve the main objective, the literature and previous studies analyzed to describe the habits of mind approach, and build program included its aims, content, activities, teaching strategies and assessment instrument. The enhancement program included 16 activities; each one is related to one of habits of mind.  In addition, the creative abilities test was prepared include 10 items; each items measure the three components of creative abilities. Also, the study depends on the experimental design (pre-post) Test. The sample was selected randomly from preparatory year students at the University of Tabuk: experimental group (41), controlling group (36).  The search instruments were applied in the academic year 1434/1435 AH, to collect the data, and then the data was analyzed using SPSS. The main finding is there are significant differences between the average grades of the experimental group and controlling group in post application of creative abilities test. In light of the results, the recommendations were setting including: applying habits of mind to develop academic programs.
