Mind Habits And Emotional Intelligence And Relationship With Academic Achievement Among Students At Al-Qanfada University College- The Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia

Abstract
This study sought to identify the practice of mind habits and emotional intelligence and to identify their relationship with academic achievement among students at Al-Qanfada University College - Saudi Arabia . Population consisted of all male and female students (N=5300) during the second semester (2013/2014). A random sample of 60 male and 70 female students was selected. To achieve the study goals, Rogers' (2000) Mind Habits scale 48-items that cover six areas and Bar-On's (2000) Emotional Intelligence scale 57-items were used. Results showed moderate practice degree of mind habits on Rogers Scale (2000) and high on the emotional intelligence scale. Differences were found in mind habits practice degree by study level variable and in favor of second-year students compared with students of the first year, and the existence of differences in the degree of emotional intelligence as an academic level variable in favor of first-year students versus fourth year students. A correlation was found between mind habits, emotional intelligence, and achievement level among Al-Qanfada University college students that varies by sex, specialty, and year of study. The recommendation in this study encourages employment of mind habits to improve students to raise academic achievement.
