Abstract

This study aims to use of The statistical methods in order to evaluate the learning assessment process i.e. the results (scores) of final exams for the science department's students, at the first semester of academic year 2009-2010. The sample's  study composed of students from 1st and 4th levels belong to science department (chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physic) in Aden-Educational Collage. The sample's volume found to be (530)which forms about (100%) of the original society.

The researcher used three types of statistical methods as an arbitrated tool of this study : 1. MEASURES OF CENTRAL TENDENCY, 2. PERCENTILES, 3. FREQENCY DISTRIBUTION CURVE, in order to evaluate the results (scores) of final exams.

The results were as the following :

  1. 1.    Using of CENTRAL TENDENCY MEASUREMENTS showed that the MOD of  students for 1st level was <  MOD of  students for 4th  level for the most courses. These results indicate that the achieve examinations  for 1st level students are difficult in comparison with that of  4th  level students in science department.
  2. 2.    Using of  PERCENTILES showed that the distribution of the area percentages that occupied by students rates in the most learning courses do not correspond to, even not near to the area percentages that under the NORMAL BELL-SHAPED CURVE.
  3. 3.    Using of  FREQENCY DISTRIBUTION CURVE brought out either mines skewness frequency curve i.e. easy exam. for the 4th students level, or plus skewness frequency curve i.e. difficult exam. For the both 1st and 4th students level.
  4. 4.    In general the statistical methods showed that only little of achieve exams in science department hold positive results just like:

a)   Mean = Median =Mod

b)   Area percentages that occupied by students rates identical to that of the normal bell-shaped curve.
